I love to photograph old buildings and ancient landscapes, always trying to capture a sense of history and atmosphere. Many of the houses I am drawn to have seen better times and are waiting to be saved, some are lived in and well-worn, and some have been abandonned, leaving just a hint of their occupants and their past lives.
Following 10 years photographing homes for the holiday rental market, I am now enjoying being creative with unstaged and definitely imperfect interiors.
With Somerset as my main backdrop, I search for landscapes which have been shaped by centuries of settlements and farming.
One of my current projects is 'A Very Private View'- where my aim is to create a sensitive visual record of much-loved family homes, for families who have had to move on, or as a prompt for those needing the comfort of their memories. A second project is 'Somerset in Black and White' - capturing the county's enduring history and the ever-changing seasonal landscapes that catch my eye while exploring.
